Well preserved, ancient walled villages such as Pals, Peratallada and Palau Sator with their cobbled streets, traditional restaurants and unique atmospheres are easily discovered inland, the bustling market town of Palafrugell with its lively central square is 6km away and the local beauty spots of Llafranc and Tamariu are just 10km away.

Begur itself is an appealing hilltop town, crowned with a spectacular 11th Century stone castle and privileged to wonderful views of the Medes Isles and the Pyrenees to the north. Narrow winding streets, boutiques and restaurants with peaceful romantic walled gardens make it a wonderful place for a pleasant evening stroll. Wednesday is market day, when local farmers from nearby villages come to town and set up their colourful stalls in the shade of the imposing stone church of Sant Pere. The colour, aroma and general outdoor life is pure Mediterranean.
